Favorite series of all time!

Image
Hi! So a lovely bookstagrammer (@meetmeatthelamppost_) requested a "Favorite Series Of All Time" blog post! So here it goes. I'm going to name three series that will be forever favorites. If you read this and you'd like to share YOUR top 3, then go ahead in the comments! Happy reading 😋 In third position, we have... (drum roll please...): THE HUNGER GAMES! I read this series back in EIGHT GRADE. That's like 6 years ago! It was extremely good when I first read them, and just as good when I reread them. These books were part of the firsts books I actually read and enjoyed. I was also obsessed with the movies and Josh Hutcherson (still am LOL), and I used to watch behide the scenes clips. I would also buy book companions like magazines or unofficial books. Gosh, those were the good old days. 😜 Photo credits: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunger_Games_(trilogie)  In second position we have... (more drum roll please...): PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS! You ...

Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills - Spoiler free review

I finished Foolish Hearts during the weekend and now it's time to talk about it! Happy reading. 😋 Rating : 🟃🟃🟃🟃⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Synopsis :  The day of the last party of the summer, Claudia overhears a conversation she wasn't supposed to. Now on the wrong side of one of the meanest girls in school, Claudia doesn't know what to expect when the two are paired up to write a paper—let alone when they're both forced to try out for the school production of  A Midsummer Night's Dream.  But mandatory participation has its upsides—namely, an unexpected friendship, a boy band obsession, and a guy with the best dimpled smile Claudia's ever seen. As Claudia's world starts to expand, she finds that maybe there are some things worth sticking her neck out for. Personal review : I really enjoyed reading this book! I thought it was of slow at the beginning, but when you hit that 70 pages mark, it's veryyyyyy good! Definitely one of my fave books now. 😊 The story was rea...

Leah On The Offbeat by Becky Albertalli - Spoiler Free Review

HIIIIIIIIII!!! Okay. I need to talk about this book. I just loved it so much and now Becky Albertalli is one of my favourite authors! Let's talk about Leah On The Offbeat! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Synopsis:  Leah Burke—girl-band drummer, master of deadpan, and Simon Spier’s best friend —takes center stage in this novel of first love and senior-year angst.  When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. An anomaly in her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t mustered the courage to tell her friends—not even her openly gay BFF, Simon.  So Leah really doesn’t know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. It’s hard for Leah to strike the right note whil...

Woman At Point Zero by Nawal El-Saadawi - Spoiler Free Review

Image
Hi there! I finished this amazing, but heart-wrenching, book last night and I'm a writing a review for it! Enjoy. 😌 Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Synopsis :  From her prison cell, Firdaus, sentenced to die for having killed a pimp in a Cairo street, tells of her life from village childhood to city prostitute. Society's retribution for her act of defiance - death - she welcomes as the only way she can finally be free. Personal review : I really enjoyed this. This book felt so real, I'm actually wondering if it's a true story or not. It was a really short read, but it still took me a couple of days to finish. The whole time you read this book, you already know what the faith of Firdaus is, so it's pretty heartbreaking. It's hard to read most of the time. I'm going to tell you guys that there are close to none happy moments. Do not read this thinking it will be a sweet contemporary for summer time! IT'S NOT. It portrayed what a lot of woman has to go through, and ...

Bookish Boyfriends: A Date With Darcy by Tiffany Schmidt - Spoiler Free Review

Image
Here's another book review for you guys! I hope you find it useful. 😋 Rating : ⭐⭐.5 Synopsis:  Merrilee Campbell, 16, thinks boys are better in books, chivalry is dead, and there’d be nothing more romantic than having just one guy woo her like the heroes in classic stories. She’s about to get the chance to test these daydreams when she, her best friend, Eliza, and her younger sister, Rory, transfer into Reginald R. Hero High, where all their fantasies come true—often with surprising consequences. Personal Review : As you can see, I gave it only 2.5 stars out of five. The reason behind this is mainly because I was disappointed, bored and not really interested in the plot. I'm going to admit that it was cute at some points, but that's it. I was expecting more fluffiness, and cute bookish moments. But I just felt like the characters were too forced. Also, maybe this is just me, I didn't like the classic aspect of it. All those references to Romeo and Juliet and Prid...

My 24 hours Reading Challenge - Friday August 3th to Saturday August 4th

Okay. Hi. Twenty four hours have passed, I am sleep deprived and shaking because of coffee BUT I have succeeded to read only 1 book! Here are some quick reviews, and a little overview of the challenge overall. Happy reading! 🙆 I participated with some friends to this 24 hours Reading Challenge with some bookstagram friends! It was so much fun to chat about books with them. We all set ourselves goals and I think we achieved some! My main goal was to read three books, but due to some personal issues, I had to take a break from reading and only read one. But that's okay, because I will definitely doing another one of these challenges towards the end of August! 😄 I finished Bookish Boyfriends, A Date With Darcy. It was okay, but I didn't love it. I'm going to be completely honest, I was expecting more! I didn't relate with the characters at all, when I thought I would because the book is called BOOKISH BOYFRIENDS. Anyways, there's going to be a full review on that...
