this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
fall
root
rise
in order to bloom

Personal review: You guys. I dont know why I waited so long to read this book. Maybe it's because I never really was a poetry kind of girl but now I am. Well maybe I always was and never gave it a shot 😂 Anyways, this book felt so real, I can't even explain it. I'm going through the process of healing, but not Kaur's kind of healing. In this book, she is healing from a breakup, and I'm healing in general. But still, her poems felt so relatable it's crazy. I could even feel her pain because it was so amazingly written. I started the book out of nowhere on a Sunday night, planning to read a chapter of it, but I ended up reading the whole freaking thing in an hour and a half. It was this good! 💖 It really helped me think more about life and growth, and this is a book that I will re-read for sure. I'll even mark the poems that are capable of helping me when in need! It was so good and I wont stop saying it! 😜 If you don't like poetry, I say you give it a shot and you might be surprised! 😋

What I liked the most about the book: Rupi Kaur wasn't afraid to say the words that needed to be said. There was no barrier for expression and I thought it was really powerful. ♥

Other books by Rupi Kaur you should read: I haven't read it yet (but definitely will), her other poetry novel Milk And Honey. Apparently this book helped people with their mental health, so I am very much excited!!!

As always, thanks for reading! 🙈
